Temperament and personality

Ragamuffins are docile, affectionate and very tolerant — a close relative of the Ragdoll. They like to be held, get along with children and other pets and are generally relaxed about change.

They crave company and are best not left alone for long hours.

Size and appearance

Large and soft with a rabbit-like semi-long coat, big expressive eyes and every color and pattern (unlike the pointed Ragdoll).

Activity and enrichment

Low to moderate. Daily play to prevent weight gain.

Coat care and grooming

Brush twice a week; the coat tangles less than it looks.

Typical health concerns

Every cat is an individual, and most cats of any breed live long, healthy lives with good preventive care. These are the conditions most often discussed for this breed — ask a breeder for health-testing results and discuss screening with your vet.

  • Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
  • Polycystic kidney disease (PKD).
  • Obesity.

  • want a very cuddly, calm cat
